relating to the designation of Interstate Highway 10 between the easternmost and westernmost points of the municipal boundary of the City of El Paso in El Paso County as the "Gene Roddenberry Memorial Highway".
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, is amended by adding Section 225.050 to read as follows:
Section 225.050 GENE RODDENBERRY MEMORIAL HIGHWAY.
a. That portion of Interstate Highway 10 between the easternmost and westernmost points of the muncipal boundary of the City of El Paso in El Paso County as the "Gene Roddenberry Memorial Highway".
b. The department shall design and construct memorial markers indicating the highway number, the designation as the "Gene Roddenberry Memorial Highway", and any other appropriate information.
c. The department shall erect a marker at each end of the highway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
d. In this section, a reference to the El Paso municipal boundary means that boundary as it exists on January 1, 2003.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
