I could not find Mr. Garcia’s Christian News excerpt anywhere on the Internet, but I did find the following regarding the book he quoted. I could not find a site that had the page in question where I could read it, so I will go to Barnes & Noble before the Legislature goes back in session on Monday, purchase the book, and type in the ENTIRE quote (no ellipses) so that everyone who is interested can have the whole story/quote to base their choice to be for or against the legislation.

BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF DAVID HUNT
David G. Hunt, of Portland, Oreg., is president of American Baptist Churches USA. A layman, he was vice president of the denomination during the preceding biennium and has served on the General Board Executive Committee, General Secretary Search Committee and Biennial Program Committee. A member of Grace Baptist Church in Portland, Hunt has been active in the American Baptist Churches of Oregon. As an ABCUSA General Board representative from 1990-1997 Hunt chaired the Nominating Committee and the Young Adult Caucus and was on the Committee on Christian Unity and the Commission on Denominational Unity.
He also served on the National Ministries Executive Committee, among other responsibilities. Professionally he is executive director of the Columbia River Channel Coalition. His community involvements include service on the Oregon City School Board, the Clackamas CountyCommittee on Citizen Involvement and the Oregon City Rotary Club.
