I am fully aware it is the birthplace of Gene Roddenberry and all residents and visitors to the City should know it. Why not … Houston, TX has named SH-288 the Nolan Ryan Memorial Highway from Houston to Alvin. It is fitting to give the late Gene Roddenberry the same respect. His creative ideas during an era of western show dominance helped the community of science and imagination worldwide! Dear Ms. Donawell My name is Jim McClure, vice president of the Gene Roddenberry Memorial Society. Our group, based in Greensburg, PA (35 miles SE of Pittsburgh), is dedicated to the beliefs and ideals of the creator of Star Trek. Our goal is to pay tribute to the dreamer while experiencing the dream. Our membership is very excited about the happenings in El Paso. I have passed on the information on the 'Roddenberry Highway Petition' campaign and your website to our members, located across the country. Many of them don't have internet access, and I was wondering if they could write snail mail letters to show their support and to whom they should write? Also, we will be attending a Star Trek convention this week from 2/14 - 2/16. This convention, Farpoint, is held in Hunt Valley, MD, just outside Baltimore. We came up with the idea of starting a paper petition for your campaign to have people sign at the convention. We feel that this way we could help spread the word to some people who may not have known about your campaign. We would be able to mail you the paper petitions directly after the con, so you would have them before 3/1. So I would need your snail mail address. Do you think this would work?
